Part 1: Think
Good speaking starts before the first word. First, organise the idea so your answer does not stop after one sentence.
The Simple Speaking Formula
First, See How It Works
Question: How do you usually manage a busy week?
Formal / Organised Version
AnswerI think planning my week carefully is one of the best ways to stay organised.
ReasonThis is because it helps me manage my time and avoid unnecessary stress.
ExampleFor example, I usually write down my main tasks and decide what needs to be done first.
DetailIn addition, having a simple plan helps me feel more focused and in control.
Natural / Casual Version
AnswerHonestly, I try to plan my week before it gets too busy.
ReasonThat’s because it helps me stay calm and not leave everything until the last minute.
ExampleLike, I usually make a short list of the most important things I need to finish.
DetailPlus, it helps me feel more organised and less overwhelmed.
A Quiet Speaking Goal
Aim for 4–6 connected sentences. That is usually enough to sound confident, clear and prepared without sounding memorised.
Part 2: Speak
Formal starters help you sound organised in professional or serious situations. Natural starters help you sound relaxed in friendly, everyday conversations. Good speakers also connect back to the other person with a small follow-up question.
Natural: Honestly... / For me...
Natural: Mainly because...
Natural: Like... / One time...
Natural: Plus... / Another thing is...
Keep It Like a Real Conversation
After you answer, you can invite the other person back in. This makes your speaking sound less memorised and more natural.
Professional / Formal
What about your experience?
How do you usually approach this?
Would you agree with that?
Friendly / Natural
What about you?
Have you ever had that?
Do you know what I mean?
Useful Tip
Use one follow-up question at the end when the situation feels like a conversation, not a presentation.
Hints & Speaking Tips
Do not stop too early
After your first sentence, add one reason, one example and one detail.
Sound natural
You do not need perfect language. Clear, connected ideas are more important.
Upgrade gently
Use one adjective, one adverb or one extender to make the answer richer.
Part 3: Connect
Build answers step by step. Each box helps you create one part of a complete spoken answer.
Part 4: Real-World Picture Challenge
Now use the same speaking tools with a real-world social scene. Describe what you see, guess what is happening, explain feelings and connect it to your own experience or opinion.
